Dear Roger:
Why does this surprise you? Most things at Evergreen are dictated by the
forces of the wind. It may blow one way on Monday and another way on
Tuesday. Lack of spine is typical in most gastropods, including your
alma mater. In its hesitancy to offend no one, it usually manages to
offend most. It is an institution lacking in identity and character, and
so is as easily swayed to trying to be everything to everybody as a
lonely adolescent.
