Well, I must admit, I fully see the rye truth and humor in the cartoon series. Clearly, some would rather deny what is a substantial truth about this college: that many would not have gotten their degree without it. Not that this matters a whole lot perhaps. Many who might fall under the generalization developed by the cartoon would probably have found many educational opportunities and experiences on their own without the college, and for the worth and respect shown to that piece of paper (or beer coaster or what-have-you) those other educational experiences would have served the purpose just as well (the value of a diploma is in the eye of the beholder!).
As you surely know, Evergreen has become (or always was?) a haven for the politically correct crowd (whose credo is: 'I will offend no person, though it may turn all my arguments to the consistency of jello'). This is another of the facts of life here. A possible solution to this sticky problem would be to get some PC yahoo to include the PC response to these cartoons. The concept of 'editor' has always been at odds with the fullest expression of free speech. Good Luck. I really enjoyed your web site.
